After the recent relaunch / reboot of DC Comics storylines titled New 52, DC Comics has also released a brand new logo for all of their products. They did this to try to gain more support and popularity from their fan base in an effort to revamp interest in the comics world. I’m not sure how the popularity of actual comic books compares between DC Comics and Marvel ones and which has been more successful lately. What I do know is that Marvel has been outdoing DC Comics over the past few years in most other fields, especially in the film and TV show industries. However, Batman has been a huge success lately for the DC world, but that’s mostly it. Meanwhile, Marvel has been coming out with more options for their fans and overall I bet they have been more successful as of late.

The new DC Comics logo is drastically different than anything previously released. It is an interesting and actually very creative and unique logo. However, it seems odd for a 3D logo of that sort for comic books and such. I think it would be more fitting for a graphic design program logo such as photoshop. I do like the logo though it’s very unique. The D is in the form of a half turned page with the C sticking out, very creative.

Will anyone STOP buying comic books simply because they have a new logo? Definitely not. Fans buy the comics for the stories and artwork, not the symbol in the top corner. Will people START buying comic books because of it? Possibly, but not directly. The release of a new logo is just a method to get people talking about DC Comics and to hopefully get more people interested and eventually as customers of their products. I’m in favor of any tactic used to help spark interest from newcomers and die hard fans alike. Scattered are pictures of the new DC Comics logo. You can click each of them for a full-sized image.
