This is the first section for Round 2 of the Custom Marvel Battle Tournament with some very tough and even matchups between very popular characters. The most notable opponents for this section include Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man, and the Hulk. Here are the matchups and polls along with my predictions. Remember, the winner of each match will be determined by fan voting so spread the word and cast your votes.

Custom Marvel Battle Tournament – Round 2 – Savage Land Section

Name: Wolverine
Pros: healing factor, adamantium infused into his bones makes him nearly indestructible, slow aging = experienced, claws
Cons: vulnerable to those who can manipulate metal

Name: Deadpool
Pros: healing factor, immune to poisons and diseases, enhanced agility, master assassin and marksman, weapons, teleportation
Cons: merc with a mouth stupidity

Winner Prediction: Very close matchup here between two very similar characters both from the Weapon X experiments therefore they both have the healing factor and enhanced abilities from it. The key difference is that Wolverine’s bone claws were infused with adamantium, therefore making him nearly indestructible, whereas Deadpool never had such a process done to him. Therefore, Wolverine gets the upper-hand in this battle and shreds Deadpool in half, unable to regenerate.

Name: Cable
Pros: telekinesis, telepathy, futuristic weapons and technology, cyborg, and many more
Cons: TO virus if uncontrolled

Name: Doctor Octopus
Pros: mentally controlled titanium tentacles
Cons: powerless without tentacles

Winner Prediction: My pick for this 1v1 matchup is Cable. He is very underrated and has some very powerful abilities. His telepathy ability would possibly allow him to control Doc Ock’s own tentacles. If so, then he would win the battle very quickly by using Dr. Octopus’ own attacks against him. Even if not, I still think Cable is much more powerful and would manage to win against Doctor Octopus.

Name: Spider-Man
Pros: superhuman strength and agility, spider-sense, web shooters
Cons: easily defeated if hit

Name: Hulk
Pros: limitless superhuman physical strength fueled by emotion, resistance to extreme temperatures
Cons: none

Winner Prediction: As much as I like Spider-Man and always have, I can’t pick him in this matchup against the incredible Hulk. Although Spider-man has his spidey sense and is very agile and can avoid attacks, the Hulk would eventually strike him with a punch or attack, and that would be the end of it. The Hulk is so powerful, and although he is so big and may seem slow, his rage fuels his speed and strength and would eventually be powerful and lucky enough to land a hit. Besides, Spider-Man’s only option is to avoid the conflict because let’s face it his web balls are like an itch to the Hulk. Eventually, the chase would end and the Hulk would win. The poll results could go either way, but I think that Spidey will advance mainly due to the favorite votes over actual power.

Name: Human Torch
Pros: fire, flight
Cons: open to various forms of attack

Name: Dr. Strange
Pros: magic, mystical artifacts
Cons: focuses only on magic based attacks

Winner Prediction: My winning pick here would have to be Dr. Strange. The Human Torch relies solely on fire attacks, and magicians such as Dr. Strange can augment their resistances to particular elements. He can also use water based magic to weaken Torch and nullify anything he throws at him. Dr. Strange’s magic is just too powerful for Human Torch to win this one.
